The Inn, which was built before the American
Revolution, has changed its name many times
during its traditionally rich history. Originally Ye
Surprise Inn, it provided countless weary travelers
with comfortable relaxation during the long
journey from Plymouth to Scituate. Located to
Whites Ferry, which carried passengers across the
South River, the Inn became a natural resting
place for travelers. To capture the spirit of the
waterfront location, the Inn's name was changed
to the Seaview House and then Riverside Inn.
Finally, when the ferry was replaced with a bridge,
the inn acquired its name The Bridgwaye Inn, now
-The Polcari's Bridgwaye Inn.
